Keira Knightley insists she would never have an affair with any of her male co-stars — because they often turn into “brothers”.

The actress has shared the screen with the likes of Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and James McAvoy.

But Knightley is adamant she’ll never get the chance to cheat on her British actor boyfriend Rupert Friend.

“I could never have an affair with any of my leading men,” she said. “They always turn into brothers. I’m a classic turn-them-into-brothers kind of girl.”

Keira, 24, also revealed that she likes guys who cry.

“On screen these days, you rarely see a big, strong man. You see slender, androgynous-looking boys,” she explains. “I’ve worked with very few people whom I feel small against.

“The most manly thing ever is a guy who can cry, who’s in touch with himself.”

The Duchess actress - who is currently dating British actor Rupert Friend - says she was an outsider during her younger years and because of that she has always longed for people to like her.

She reveals, “I was never particularly popular.

“I always wanted to be one of the popular people. Never managed it! I was probably one of the normal ones. I hope I was.”

It was recently reported that Keira, 23, had been giving support to her London Boulevard costar Colin Farrell following his split from girlfriend Emma Forrest.

Keira Knightley has shot down online reports she refused to have her breasts digitally altered to look larger for her new film’s promotional posters - insisting the subject never came up.

Several websites accused ‘The Duchess’ actress of “refusing requests from studio heads to toy with her chest” for the film’s promotional material.

But Keira, 23, insists the reports are false - and she is, in fact, quite proud of her flat chest.

She says, “I don’t remember anybody telling me that they wanted to give a boob job to the poster. So I’m glad they didn’t.

“I’d love to say that I was really strident and went ‘absolutely not’ if they’d asked to enhance my breasts.

KEIRA Knightley hates exercise — and avoids it at all costs.

The diminutive British star, 23, says even when she goes to the gym she tries to get out of working out because she cannot stand the pain.

She explains, “I decided I wanted to get fit because my flat is on the top floor without a lift and I was finding it quite difficult to get up the stairs.

“So I joined a gym but I hated it. But it had lovely water.

“It had all cucumber chopped up into it. So I sat there in my work out gear sipping my nice water watching everyone else working out.

“I did it in the end. I just went on a cross trainer and had someone yelling at me telling me to squat. But I hated it.”

The Training Day star is happily dating producer George Gargurevich, but she admits she finds herself attracted to stars of both sexes.

Keira Knightley is in no rush to wed her actor boyfriend RUPERT FRIEND - because she prefers to take life “as it happens”.

The couple made its romance public in 2006 after wrapping-up filming on their movie Pride and Prejudice. But Knightley insists she is not planning to marry anytime soon.

Los Angeles (Hollywood Reporter) - British actress Keira Knightley is in negotiations to play Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald in “The Beautiful and the Damned.”

Actor-turned-helmer Nicker Cassavetes (”The Notebook”) will direct the biopic for independent production company the Film Department. Hanna Weg wrote the screenplay.

“Damned” revolves around Zelda Sayre (Knightley) and F. Scott Fitzgerald, who became Jazz Age icons known for living large, soaring high and crashing hard. They were toasts of the town in the 1920s, but their courtship and marriage were filled with jealousy and acrimony. Fitzgerald used their relationship as material for his novels, as did Sayre, who tried to find an artistic identity of her own and ended up being admitted to a sanitarium.

“Damned” would continue Knightley’s love affair with period movies. The actress stars in “The Duchess,” set in 18th century England, and her recent credits include the World War I drama “Atonement” and “Silk,” set in 19th century France and Japan.

British actress Keira Knightley was only a child when Princess Diana died, and while she remembers the tragedy, she says her parents “never had any gossipy newspapers around the house.”

Now, at age 23, Knightley stars as Georgiana Spencer, Duchess of Devonshire and distant 18th century relative of Princess Diana, in The Duchess.

Knightley says she has heard plenty of parallels drawn between Diana and Georgiana — their beauty, their popularity, their political roles, their complex love lives in the public eye — but insists that the filmmakers had no intention of “disguising” a Diana biography.

“We were very much making a film about Georgiana ” Knightley tells Robert Siegel. “It certainly wasn’t my intention to make a film about Diana.”

The veteran actor was amazed at the 23-year-old Atonement star’s talent - and insists she has the crucial ‘it’ factor that could make her one of Hollywood’s hottest properties.

And he was impressed with the way she grappled with the part of Georgiana Cavendish opposite his role as her loveless husband in the period drama.

He tells USA Today newspaper, “Keira has great clarity as a person… amazingly open for her age. She has a great maturity and an openness and a natural spontaneity, a vivacity. That?s a crucial thing you can?t act. She has it.?

The Pirates of the Caribbean actress has an empty schedule and is planning to spend her free time at her London home.

She says, “It’s been a strange years as far as films go. With the writers’ strike in Hollywood, a lot of financing has fallen through.

“I’m going to sit in my flat, read books and cook.”
